This collection of simple poetry is a pleasant journey of deeper selfawareness, and gratitude, on the road to selfdiscovery. You will learn a little more of how to find and fully appreciate the joy and fun in life as the topics of love, gratitude, hope and inspiration are more deeply explored. God gives us strength through the struggle between good and evil. In this struggle is where the best in life is found. The more we look the more we begin to clearly see that the joys in life abound. If we are lucky, God lets us all start out our lives with a strong sense of curiosity, while knowing that we are loved. We find the best in life by strengthening three aspects of our faith. The strength of our faith in God, the strength of our faith in others and the strength of our faith in ourselves. Both our love and our faith are strengthened by never giving up. At some point in our lives, many of us come to realize that it is the strength we find in the selfless love of Jesus Christ that is all that's held us up. The greatest value in the Christian life is the gift of eternal life! The second greatest value in the Christian life is in the living of it! -Curtis H. West, M.L.S. The journey of selfdiscovery can be frightening, exhilarating, confusing, liberating, and often best undertaken accompanied by a caring voice. Charles Preston's poetry shiningly serves as such a voice for all who wish to begin a journey of their own. -Suzanne Beeson, Ph.D. HSPP

About The Book:
This book is a voyage of self-awareness...the sad times, the glad times, and those times that lie in-between. Love, Gratitude, Hope and Inspiration will be explored. You will see how a tremendous joy, and a sense of self - discovery can appear out of sadness.
We are - not that much different...you and I, we each hunger - to see... the love - in another's eyes. I hope to share some of the love, of Jesus Christ, a selfless love, that changes lives. In my view...it is only in - "The struggle"...that the best in life is found. This anthology - has no beginning and no end. We are more the same than different and we all share many similarities. The one thing - that we do not do...is to see the world, with exactly the same bank of knowledge, experience and attitudes. You can purchase Simple Things at this link.

My Review:
Mr. Fletcher has written a golden nugget of encouragement in his recent book Simple Things. Looking through Simple Things you will begin to relize it isn't just another book of poetry. Fetaured inside are several different poems broken down into groups.
And those topics included:

God's Love
Gratitude
Hope
Inspiration
Special Loves
Tuesday is for Grinning
Personal Struggles
Reading thruogh Simple Things I was immediatly drawn to several different poems. But I believe my favorite one was The Lord's Prayer. I really liked it because it describes what God is like and how we should do in our Christian walk. The Lord's Prayer makes me think of what I should be like and how I should change. It also reminds me that God is the only way we will make it in this life. And without him, we have nothing.

I truely enjoyed this book of poetry. It is full of inspirational poems. Thank you so much for sharing your love of Christ, hope, and feelings.
Fletcher's book "Simple Things" is a nice, gentle and comforting collection of Christian-inspired poetry that I have not seen around in a while. It was refreshing to read, because it displays the journeys we all encounter during faith. There are times when we are exuberant and confident about our faith and there are times when we feel so disheartened that we question our faith. Fletcher covers both of those issues brilliantly, not with a long sermon or prose about faith, but with poems that have a quiet, but simple elegance to them. The book focuses on "simple things" like family, dogs, love, and television, but does so in a way that those things are elevated to more importance because of Fletcher's poems. This is also helped by Fletcher's use of good rhyme (usually but not always end rhyme).

Some of my favorite poems (and I had quite a few) were "Can God?", "Thank You Lord" , "The Lord's Prayer", "By the Grace of God", "The World is in Need", and " I Want a Dog in Heaven". "Can God?" expresses a mixture of man's vulnerabilities, faith, and confidence in that faith. I also like that Fletcher was able to switch up his style and take things like the word GPS, or "Amazing Grace" and turn them into something creative and extremely insightful with only a few verses. Another of Fletcher's poems, " I Want a Dog in Heaven" displays an incredible mixture of humor and insight in a way that really made me think. I appreciated the ability of author to do that.

In summary, this book offers a lot if you are on a faith journey and want to be inspired by one man's journey through faith. Reading Fletcher's book, you come to see that we all have the much of the same insecurities and vulnerabilities about faith. In choosing to share his story, you come to see that it is only in actively sharing and participating in our faith are we able to watch that faith grow to amazing things. As a budding poet myself, I am humbled by this poet's ability to translate that experience and insight into verse. If my work meets a tenth of what he is able to do, then I will be pleased.
